After receiving a B.S. & Ph.D. from the Dept of Cellular Biology at the University of Georgia, Dr. Van De Weghe completed her postdoctoral training with Dan Doherty, M.D./Ph.D. in the Dept of Pediatrics at the University of Washington. Dr. Van De Weghe joined the Dept of Cell Biology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 2022 where she continues to investigate cellular pathophysiology underlying ciliopathy conditions.
justyna szymczak, ms, phd postdoctoral fellow
Justyna is a postdoctoral fellow and the lab manager. She completed her Ph.D. in the Molecular Microbiology Department at the University of Wroclaw in Poland. Her Ph.D. project was focused on ParB segregation protein interactions during segrosome assembly in Streptomyces coelicolor bacteria. In her private life, Justyna loves dogs, sports, and music.
rose johnson, ba graduate student
Rose is a doctoral candidate in the lab. In May 2022, she graduated with a BA in biology from Hendrix College. Outside of lab, Rose enjoys cats, music, and shenanigans.
felix asare, bs graduate student
Felix is a doctoral candidate in the lab. He graduated from the University of Ghana with a BSc in Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology in 2021. Away from the lab, he enjoys books, movies, video games, and also volunteers to ignite STEM interest in young minds. Most importantly, he partakes in the unique adventures that define a grad student’s life!
sharin christian, msc research technician
Sharin is a Research Technician in the lab who graduated with her MSc in Biotechnology from the University of Texas at Dallas. Driven by an interest in biological research, she enjoys learning every day and finds constant inspiration in knowing that bench work contributes to people's lives. Outside the lab, she loves exploring new places, going on adventures, spending time with family and friends, cooking, music, and diving into a good book or a movie.
